Root Canals Many years ago, the only cure for a diseased or injured tooth was extraction. Today, there is hope for an
unhealthy tooth. Often, it can be saved with a specialized procedure call a root canal, or endodontic treatment. The procedure: First, the tooth's diseased or injured pulp, or soft tissue, is removed. Next, the pulp chamber
and root canals are cleaned, shaped, filled and sealed off. In most cases, a crown is placed over the tooth at a
later appointment. |
