PerioChip

The PerioChip is a small chip designed to precisely fit the gingival pocket, a pocket between the gum and tooth root. The chip contains an effective bacteria-killing substance, and dissolves naturally in about one week's time. The PerioChip enhances the benefits of scaling and root planing in the treatment of gum disease.

The procedure: Following scaling and planing, your dentist may suggest a new treatment to remove bacteria - the PerioChip. After the chip is inserted into the gingival pocket, the active ingredient is gradually released, removing bacteria as it dissolves. Following treatment, you may eat and drink as usual. Teeth may be cleaned as usual, but avoid flossing in the area of the chip for 10 days.
