Dr. Lynn Godwin graduated from Wake Forest University in 1979 with her B.A. degree in Biology. She then attended dental school at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. After graduating from Emory in 1983, she practiced dentistry in Charleston, SC until she moved to the Triangle in 1987. On January 1, 1988, she opened the doors to her new dental office in Cary on North Harrison Avenue. As her practice grew, her father, Dr. George I. Miller, also a dentist, joined her in 1990. In 1999, they relocated their dental office to Keisler Drive, its present location.

Dr. Meg Burgin joined our practice in 2007. She grew up in Colorado and, just before high school, moved to North Carolina with her family. Dr. Burgin double majored in Biology and Chemistry at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia and in May 2000 earned her dental degree from the Dental School at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Dr. Burgin and her husband live in Apex with their three children.

Dr. Elizabeth Pennington began working in our practice in Spring 2009. Born in Atlanta Georgia and raised in Alabama, Dr. Pennington earned her dental degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Dental School in May 2000. Prior to attending dental school, she worked as a programming analyst for Boeing and Puget Sound National Bank, both in Washington State. Dr. Pennington received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia where she majored in Management Information Systems. She resides in Raleigh with her husband and two little boys.

The Doctors' Assistants

Sheila has been assisting Dr. Godwin since 1992. She finds great joy in working for Dr. Godwin, and she loves working with our patients. A friend to all, Sheila will do all she can to make you feel at home.

Debbie has been an assistant with our dental practice since the summer of 2005. She has over 25 years of experience as a dental assistant. She is very dedicated and hard-working. In her spare time she enjoys gardening and flower arranging.

Carla is the newest addition to our wonderful staff. With over 20 years of experience as a dental assistant, she cares for each patient with kindness and respect.

Ann has been a dental hygienist for over 30 years. She has happily worked at Godwin Family Dentistry since 1990. She has really enjoyed knowing our patients over the years and watching the children grow-up and then bring their own children to our practice.

Kathy began working for Dr. Godwin In 1997, and the practice hasn’t been the same since. Kathy brings a special joy to our office. She loves her patients and loves to make them feel at home. She has been a dental hygienist for over 25 years.

Pattie has been a dental hygienist for over 25 years. She joined our team in 2003. She treats each patient very professionally and amazes us all with her kind spirit.

The Office Staff

Beth is the office manager, and has been working for Godwin Family Dentistry since 1992. She is Dr. Miller's daughter and Dr. Godwin's sister. Beth received her B.S. degree in Business Administration from UNC in 1990. She has over 25 years experience in dentistry, since she began working in her daddy's office when she was fourteen.

Sue, head of patient relations, has worked at the front desk since 1993. She helps our patients by scheduling appointments, filing insurance, confirming appointments, and answering questions about dental treatment. She loves the staff and patients here.

Chris, has been a dental assistant for over 25 years. She assisted Dr. Miller for nine years. Now she enjoys “assisting” patients at the front desk. With her depth of knowledge, she is an outstanding patient accounts coordinator.

Cindi, our insurance coordinator, is truly another “family” member; She’s Dr. Godwin’s sister-in-law. She has been working at the practice since 1998. Her dedication makes it possible for the practice to file our patients’ insurance claims, a service that our patients very much appreciate.
