Bridges All thirty-two teeth work together when you chew, speak, sing and smile. If you've lost one or more teeth,
you're probablly aware of their importance to your appearance and dental health. Fortunately, lost teeth can be
replaced effectively with a bridge. The procedure: In most cases, the teeth adjacent to a lost tooth are prepared for receiving crowns. Then, a
fixed bridge, with a false tooth and two crowns for support, is cemented to them. There are other specialized
types of bridges, as well. The "Maryland", or resin-bonded bridge, requires no crowns or extensive preparation.
A bridge can also be supported by dental implants. Your dentist can determine which type is appropriate for
you. |
