The Doctors

Dr. Lynn Godwin graduated from Wake Forest University in 1979 with her B.A. degree in Biology. She then attended dental school at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. After graduating from Emory in 1983, she practiced dentistry in Charleston, SC until she moved to the Triangle in 1987. On January 1, 1988, she opened the doors to her new dental office in Cary on North Harrison Avenue.

As Dr. Godwin’s practice grew with more and more patients, she discovered that she was referring many of them to specialists for procedures that she herself did not do. Such procedures included orthodontics and oral surgery. In order to create a practice that molded to all her patients’ needs, Dr. Godwin asked her father, Dr. George I. Miller, also a dentist, to relocate to this area and join her in practice with her. Also a general dentist, Dr. Miller frequently treated his patients with orthodontia and some oral surgery. In 1990, after residing in the mountains of western North Carolina for almost 30 years, he sold his successful dental practice, and partnered with his daughter in Cary.

Dr. Miller attended Western Carolina University for his undergraduate work, and also graduated from Emory University’s dental school in 1960. From Atlanta, he moved to Clyde, NC, a small rural town in the mountains, to begin his dental practice. Known for his gentle manner and good humor with his patients, he became a very popular dentist in that area. It was a difficult decision to move east after thirty years, but moving to Cary meant being with his family, his two daughters, his son, and his eight grandchildren. It proved to be a good move. Many of his patients from the mountains still travel the five hours just to be treated by him.

Dr. Godwin enjoys restorative dentistry with a cosmetic focus. Her treatments include porcelain veneers, inlays, onlays, full crowns, bridgework, and cosmetic bonding. They both treat patients with endodontic therapy (root canals) usually in one visit. Along with restorative treatment, Dr. Miller also enjoys implant surgery and comprehensive orthodontic treatment.
